Macbook Air, which can easily be described as the world’s thinnest notebook ever, is certainly a Macintosh notebook computer, specifically designed by one of the major computer manufactures of the world, Apple. It can be considered as the ultra portable one amongst the Apple’s Macbook family; and it was launched at the Mac World Conference and Expo in the year 2008. Macbook Air is certainly the first of its kind which efficiently implemented Apple’s latest aluminum unibody enclosure. This particular laptop has been twice revised for a much better performance, since its first launch. The first edition was certainly faster in terms of its performance, which included a larger hard drive along with a Mini DVI port. But the later version which was introduced in the Macbook Pro family was offered at a much lower price along with features like faster performance and a much longer battery life.

Well, while discussing about the features of this excellent product, first thing that comes to your notice is certainly the design of Macbook Air. This attractive notebook is certainly one of the thinnest ever made. The first edition was made of only a single sheet of aluminum, comprising of Apple’s unibody technique. It weighs just about 3 pounds with a glossy finish along with a LED backlit display and also a backlit keyboard. It also includes a much larger trackpad which easily supports Multi touch gestures including pinching, swiping, rotating etc, which are usually the key features found in iPhones. After introducing Macs OSX snow leopard, the multi touch trackpad has now started responding to handwriting recognition, even of Chinese characters.

As far as the other features of this excellent product are concerned, there is certainly no end to it. Macbook Air is certainly a subcompact notebook by Apple, including an optional solid-state storage drive. The notebook comes with a flip down right side hatch, which when opened, reveals a USB port and a Mini Display port along with a stereo earphone jack. The machine comprises of a Mega safe adaptor in the left side for power, an iSight webcam and a microphone, which is placed above the screen. The model also includes a low voltage small form factor Core 2 Duo Penryn along with a 6 MB of cache, which usually runs on 1066 MHz of bus. The RAM is soldered on the motherboard. Macbook Air comes with a 128 GB solid state storage drive along with a built-in 120 GB hard drive. The RAM is of 2 GB and is non-upgradable.
